Retreat Centre

Help us convert Bonnevaux’s former stables into the main retreat centre with a capacity for 39 guests, including ensuite rooms, bookshop, guest sitting room and dining facilities.

We need your help now to raise 3 million euros for the conversion of the stables as our retreat centre with accommodation for up to 39 retreatants. The retreat centre will be of simple design and environmentally responsible. It will include ensuite rooms, bookshop, guest sitting room and dining facilities. Existing Building Fabric

Built of brick and rubble stone in 1897, this 44x16m, 2-story construction is part of a group of four buildings (the stable, pigsty, hanger, and barn), all designed at the same time in the same style. The building features a central through opening and two arched doors approx. 6m high. This raised central section forms an intersection at right angles to the two ends. Its outstanding roofing framework comprises two cross braces. The two lateral sections comprise horse loose boxes on the ground floor with a hay loft upstairs. Its southern end includes a 4-bedroomed dwelling with a kitchen, a back kitchen ,a dining room and a bathroom. This building is in a good state of repair throughout.

On arriving at Bonnevaux guests are greeted by the inviting village green and the main reception at the heart of the community, a place that exhibits and traces the history of both Bonnevaux and the WCCM.
