Bonnevaux project wins Gold at the 2019 London Design Awards

Leonardo

We are very happy to announce that the design for Bonnevaux by DP Architects has been awarded Gold at the London Design Awards.

The project converts the site of a 12th-century abbey near Poitiers, France, into a campus of peace and meditation, and a new home for the World Community for Christian Meditation. Works on the 65-hectare site involve the conservation and adaptive re-use of listed buildings, and the construction of new structures to provide for modern needs.

The master plan, architecture and landscape were designed to respond sensitively to the surrounding and global context, to create a serene yet supported environment that promotes spirituality and fosters an inclusive contemplative community.

Watch a short video on the Bonnevaux project:

The CEO of DP Architects and designer of the project, Ms Angelene Chan, says, “Our larger ambition is to use design to support radical inner transformation for the community members, and to play a part in raising wider awareness of the need for contemplation in an increasingly externalised and chaotic world.”
